Local Author Interviewed on Today Show

Expert in the Emotional Aspects
of Infertility Called Upon for Advice

UPTON, Mass. - From first time author to expert guest on NBC's The Today Show, Kristen Magnacca, has had an exciting few months. Magnacca was recently interviewed by the Today Show's Al Roaker about the emotional and physical challenges that women face when they seek medical infertility treatments.

Girlfriend to Girlfriend: A Fertility Companion, published in November (available in paperback and electronic formats from 1stBooks Library), is Magnacca's vividly personal account of the medical, physical, and emotional trials she enduring while being medically treated for infertility.

Magnacca told Roaker that after years of emotionally struggling with her inability to become pregnant, she turned her life back around by adapting an "attitude of abundance," training herself to refocus on the gifts that life had already given her. "It's about reinforcing the positive at all times during the day. Instead of obsessing over the couple and their child at the next table when I was at a restaurant, I focused on how lucky I was to be out with my husband, eating a good meal that I didn't have to cook or clean up after," she told Roaker.

Roaker told viewers that he and his wife sought medical treatment for infertility before conceiving and giving birth to a daughter last year. Like Roaker, Kristen and her husband Mark, were eventually blessed with a son who is now 2.
